History and Production:

In 2015, after years of experience with the production of Rovittello Etna Rosso, Benanti Viticoltori decided to focus on a small plot of 100-year-old pre-phylloxera vines. With an extended winemaking, maturation and aging process of up to 60 months, this Riserva is produced in extremely limited quantities, representing a pinnacle of excellence.

Vineyard Details:

• Location: Contrada Dafara Galluzzo, hamlet of Rovittello, Castiglione di Sicilia (CT)
• Altitude: 750 m above sea level.
• Soil: Sandy, volcanic, mineral-rich, sub-acid-reacting soil
• Viticulture: 100-year-old vines, pre-phylloxera, free standing, bush system
• Planting Density: 9,000 to 10,000 vines per hectare
• Yield: about 5,500 kg/ha

Vinification and Aging:

• Harvest: Manual, last decade of October
• Fermentation: In stainless steel at 25°C with long maceration, indigenous yeast
• Malolactic Fermentation: In steel
• Maturation: 24 months in 15 hl French oak barrels
• Aging: 12 months in bottle

Organoleptic Characteristics:

• Color: Ruby red tending to garnet
• Aroma: Ethereal, floral, intense, with nuances of ripe fruit and noble wood
• Taste: Dry, tannic, mineral, elegant, remarkably persistent, harmonious
• Serving Temperature: 18 – 19°C
