Muffato della Sala 2020 Marchesi Antinori cl 50

Fascinating combination of Sauvignon Blanc, Grechetto, Traminer, Sémillon and Riesling grapes and the unique terroir of Castello della Sala.

Vinification: The grapes come from the Castello della Sala vineyards, located between 200 and 450 meters above sea level on clay soils rich in marine fossils. Hand-picked and carefully selected, the grapes undergo a light crushing without destemming. The must ferments for 18 days at about 17°C, then matures in French oak barrels for 6 months, followed by an additional 2 years in steel.
Historical Data: Muffato della Sala is made from botrytized grapes harvested in late October-early November, developing “noble rot” on the grapes. This mold concentrates sugars and aromas, giving the wine a harmonious and distinctive taste. Grape composition varied, with the first vintage in 1987 composed mainly of Sauvignon Blanc, Grechetto and Drupeggio.
Tasting Notes: Muffato della Sala presents a bright golden yellow color. On the nose, ripe fruit sensations such as apricot, peach and citrus aromas emerge, with floral hints and iodine notes. On the palate, the balance of freshness and sweetness offers a long aftertaste on the finish.
